LATEST NEWS: Ramadan Fasting begins today as Moon is sighted  according to the Sultan of Sokoto.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has stated that Ramadan 1443AH would begin on today, Saturday, April 2, 2022. Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, President-General of the NSCIA and Sultan of Sokoto, declared this in a broadcast on Friday. He stated that the Ramadan new moon was seen in many regions of the country and that reports of the sighting were received from Muslim leaders and organizations across the country.

"After thorough verification and certification by the national moon sighting committee and the confirmation of state committees, as well as normal scrutiny, I officially proclaim that the sighting of the Ramadan new moon signals the end of Sha'aban 1443 AH." Muslims, according to Islamic law, "The ummah will begin fasting on Saturday," he stated. The Sultan urged Muslim faithful to devote themselves totally to Allah's worship throughout the holy month, urging them to use the time to pray for the nation's advancement, peace, and prosperity. He urged people to keep praying for leaders so that they can lead the country to prosperity.

                                     

Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan begins on Saturday. Ramadan is the Holy month of the Islamic calendar, and it is observed by Muslims all over the world as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.

Adult Muslims who are not seriously or chronically ill, old, breastfeeding, diabetic, or menstruation are not permitted to eat, drink, or smoke during Ramadan from sunrise to dusk
